While I was in Las Vegas to watch the supercross I had booked a room at the The Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino. All of the rooms are suites, but when I got to my suite I was a bit blown away…I don’t normally stay in suites with a grand piano, a bathroom bigger than my apartment and a separate movie room. At first I was a worried that I had accidentally booked the wrong room when I had made my reservation and was paying a fortune for this. It turned out that I had been upgraded to a penthouse suite and the front desk had neglected to tell me that when I checked in. I guess the hotel had realized how awesome I was…now I just need to get everyone else to realize that also.

I was in Hong Kong for the National Day of the People’s Republic of China a bit over a week ago on Oct 1st and now I’m in Taiwan for Double Ten Day which is the National Day of the Republic of China.
The view of the Taipei 101 from my one of the hotels I stayed in.
One of the great things about Taiwan is the food. No, I didn’t eat the stinky tofu and no, I didn’t eat chicken feet, but pretty much everything else is pretty amazing.
A interesting Taiwanese snack that I had never seen before was this ice-cream burrito…actually since this is Asia, I guess maybe it’s more of an ice-cream egg-role.
The ice-cream burrito/egg-role thing was being sold at a little roadside food stand and was made from peanuts that were shaved off of a huge brick of peanut brittle using a woodworking plane. The peanuts and a couple of scoops of ice-cream were then wrapped in a thin papery skin.
You could also have cilantro added to the burrito/egg-role thing, but that just seemed a bit too weird for me and I stuck to one without the salad.
